Frequently asked questions in this category

Office rubber stamps are an efficient way to speed up repetitive paperwork while maintaining a professional appearance. Whether you're marking invoices, processing mail, approving documents, or adding company information, selecting the right stamp style can improve productivity and impression quality.

Self-Inking Stamps

Self-inking stamps contain a built-in ink pad that automatically re-inks the rubber die after each impression. They are an excellent choice for high-volume office use.

Best for:

  • Addresses and return addresses
  • PAID, RECEIVED, FILED, COPY, and other message stamps
  • Date stamps
  • Frequent daily stamping
  • General office administration

Advantages:

  • Fast and convenient operation
  • Thousands of impressions before re-inking
  • Replaceable ink pads
  • Ideal for repetitive tasks

Pre-Inked Stamps

Pre-inked stamps store ink inside the stamp material itself, producing exceptionally sharp and detailed impressions with very little pressure.

Best for:

  • Company logos
  • Signatures
  • Fine text and detailed artwork
  • Professional documents
  • Occasional to moderate daily use

Advantages:

  • Crisp, high-resolution impressions
  • Quiet operation
  • No separate ink pad required
  • Excellent for detailed graphics and small fonts

Which Stamp Is Right for Your Office?

If your staff stamps documents throughout the day, a self-inking stamp typically provides the best combination of speed, durability, and ease of use. If your design includes a logo, signature, or fine detail where print quality is the top priority, a pre-inked stamp delivers the cleanest, most professional impression.

No matter which style you choose, custom office rubber stamps help streamline workflows, improve consistency, and reduce the time spent handwriting repetitive information.

At Smart Resolution, we offer custom office stamps in a variety of sizes and styles, personalized with your business name, address, logo, signatures, dates, or custom messaging to meet your daily office needs.

How to Refill Pre-Inked Stamps

  1. Separate the top from the stamp's base
  2. Add 12 drops of re-inking fluid into each of the two rectangular-shaped ink chambers
  3. Replace the top on the base
  4. Let the stamp sit upright for 3 hours to allow the ink to fully soak in before using

With so many business card options available, the paper you choose can make a significant difference in how your brand is perceived.

Below is a helpful guide to understanding the main types of paper features so you can select the perfect business card stock for your needs.

Paper Thickness or Weight

The thickness or weight of the paper helps communicate a certain feel or level of quality.

How Thickness Works

Business card thickness is commonly measured in points (pt):

  • 14 pt. – A standard, durable card stock
  • 16 pt. – Thicker, sturdier, more premium

A heavier stock often feels more professional and substantial. For example:

  • A construction company may prefer a thicker, heavier stock
  • A boutique or lingerie brand may prefer a lighter, softer-feeling card

Paper Weight (lbs)

Some printers measure paper in pounds (lb) instead of points. Common business card weights include:

  • 80 lb. cover stock
  • 100 lb. cover stock

Both systems describe how thick and solid the paper feels in your hand.

Paper Texture

Texture also plays a big role in the overall impression of your card.

Smooth Finish

A smooth finish is a great choice when you want:

  • A clean, classic look
  • Crisp, sharp text
  • Ink colors that reproduce evenly

Textured Finishes

Textured papers add elegance and personality. Common textured business card papers include:

  • Linen – A subtle woven texture
  • Laid – Horizontal ridges for a handcrafted feel
  • Strathmore – A rich, premium woven texture

These textures often feel more refined and can elevate your professional image.

Paper Color

Most business cards are printed on bright white paper for the best color accuracy. However, you can choose from other tones depending on the mood you want to convey:

  • Natural or cream – A softer, more traditional look
  • Off-white – Gentle and understated
  • Bright white – Clean, modern, and excellent for full-color printing

Keep in mind: Colored papers may affect how ink colors appear, especially lighter shades.

Paper Finish

The finish of your card influences both appearance and durability.

Glossy Finish

  • Makes colors vibrant and eye-catching
  • Adds shine and glare
  • More resistant to smudges
  • Great for designs with photos or bold graphics

Matte Finish

  • Smooth, non-reflective surface
  • Professional and understated
  • Easier to write on
  • Excellent for minimalist or text-focused designs

Choose glossy if you want high impact; choose matte for a clean, polished look.

Sustainability

If environmental responsibility is important to you or your company, consider choosing eco-friendly paper:

  • Recycled stock – Made from post-consumer materials
  • Sustainably sourced paper – From responsibly managed forests
  • Soy- or vegetable-based inks – A greener alternative to petroleum inks

These options allow you to maintain professionalism while reducing your environmental footprint.
