Custom Printing

Products printed with your own design, sometimes referred to as custom products, are:

• printed from scratch 
• available as spot color products (PMS matching) or full-color products
• limited only by the restrictions of the product or printing process itself
• custom quoted so the available options and specifications can be defined.
• eligible for custom options such as:
  • Numbering
  • Back printing
  • Bleeds
  • Perforations
  • Plate changes, which may be required when one copy differs from another and a separate printing plate must be created.
• based on your artwork or a rough draft to be uploaded during checkout. Files may be created in Word or Excel, or even submitted as a scanned handwritten sketch.
• eligible for rush service
• proofed, where proofs will show the entire product
• shipped within 2-9 business days.

Products using your own design are printed on demand from camera-ready artwork. This artwork is generally prepared by a professional graphic designer.

These products offer extensive design flexibility, but they are still subject to the limitations of the product and printing process. For example, carbonless forms require margins around the edges and do not support bleeds or full-color printing.

These products may also be ordered without printing, although the price generally remains the same.

Each sheet is printed individually and then bound or finished as required. This differs from customized products , which are generally pre-printed before your information is added.

For example, a three-part form printed in blue ink using your own design may be blue on all three copies. A pre-printed customized form may be blue on the first copy and black on the second and third copies.

Camera-Ready Artwork

Products using your own design require camera-ready artwork. The file may be uploaded or emailed and will be reviewed by our graphics team before being sent to press.

The artwork is not normally altered unless there is an obvious compatibility issue with the selected product. For example, a full-color file may need to be adjusted if the order is being printed in black ink only.

We may also be able to create the artwork for you, depending on the product and project requirements.

Ink Colors

Products using your own design may be printed in one, two, or three spot ink colors. Pricing depends on the product and the number of ink colors used.

Additional colors generally cost more because each custom ink must be mixed and the printing press must be cleaned between colors. Black ink is usually the most economical option.

Design

Spot-color artwork may be prepared using RGB mode or by specifying the PMS color number in the artwork or order instructions.

For assistance with your design, you may work with a graphic designer or create a rough sketch in Word or Excel and submit it with your order. Clearly identify sketches so they are not mistaken for final camera-ready artwork.

We may also be able to work from a fax, although artwork cleanup or design services may involve additional charges.

Proofs

Proofs are generally provided for all new orders and for reorders that include changes. A new proof is typically not provided when we are printing the exact same job as a previous order, unless one is specifically requested.
